2. Material Preparation
High-quality distribution boxes start with raw materials like galvanized steel, stainless steel, or specialized plastics. Each batch undergoes quality checks for thickness, hardness, and corrosion resistance. Surface treatment materials, including anti-rust coatings and powder paints, are prepared for later finishing .
3. Cutting, Bending & Punching
Steel sheets are cut using CNC laser machines or plasma cutters to achieve precise dimensions. The flat sheets are then bent using press brakes to form the box structure, and holes for cable entries, hinges, and mounting hardware are created using punching machines. Accuracy is critical to ensure proper assembly and sealing .
4. Welding & Grinding
Box components are welded together, with interior welds ground flush to prevent dust accumulation or arc flash hazards. Reinforcements are added at stress points, and functional dry-run testing may be performed to simulate on-site usage .
5. Surface Treatment
The enclosure undergoes surface finishing to enhance corrosion resistance and aesthetics. Common methods include powder coating, galvanization, or painting. Powder coating involves applying electrostatically charged powder and baking it to form a uniform, durable layer .
6. Component Fabrication & Assembly
Internal components such as busbars, branch circuit breakers, neutral and ground bars are prepared. Busbars are cut, shaped, and sometimes silver-plated for conductivity. Breakers and terminals are staged for installation. Components are then mounted inside the enclosure on insulating supports, ensuring precise alignment and secure connections .
7. Quality Control & Testing
Each distribution box undergoes inspection and testing to verify mechanical integrity, electrical safety, and compliance with standards. This may include functional tests, insulation resistance checks, and verification of IP/NEMA ratings .
8. Packaging & Shipping
Finished boxes are packed with anti-vibration foam, waterproof film, and export-grade crates. Modularized packaging may be used for larger orders to reduce shipping costs and facilitate installation at the site .
